Ten-Tec Jupiter encoder replacement

My second, and main, ham rig for over 20 years is the Ten-Tec Model 538 Jupiter.  It suits my casual operating just fine.  Or, it did for years, until the MULTI control, which is needed to adjust everything from audio levels to transmit output power, became flaky due to its worn out mechanical rotary encoder.

I dreaded tearing into the transceiver to repair it.  Eventually, the bad encoder rendered the front panel control useless,  and for quite some time I controlled it remotely from my computer.   Finally, I decided it was time to fix it, or trash it.

Now it has a new lease on life.  The slides below are intended to encourage anyone who has a Jupiter with original control encoders needing replacement.

While I might complain about the human interface, this has really been a fine transceiver for me.  Some brochure information and ads from the past are in a pdf here  .
