In perhaps 2001, I read that the Puritans would use seven bookmarks to read through the Bible in a year, starting with five psalms on Sunday, and three chapters each from Genesis, Joshua, Job, Isaiah, Matthew, and Romans on the following weekdays.

I made the bookmarks that are in the pdf file at the link below.  It is a marvelous idea, with a surprising amount of serendipity.
